Burlington in October

Exciting things are still happening in the real estate industry in Burlington!  A special welcome to the new people moving here in the past few months.  We're glad to have you in our community and hope you will get involved.  The fall tour of historical homes was a great success.  I don't usually enjoy going to Open Houses on my day off, but this was an exceptional opportunity to view some magnificent restorations.  The Heritage Trust for the Preservation and Restoration of Historic Burlington is an all volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of Burlington's architectural resources through education, action, and advocacy.  I'm proud to be a member.  We had a beautiful day of Indian Summer to enjoy the tour.

Jeff and I are hosting a wine and cheese Open House at 922 N. 7th.  You can take your own personal tour by visiting my website at http://www.mojennison.com/922N7th  Click on "image tour" to view this turn of the century Victorian.  Parquet floors of oak, walnut, maple, and curly birch provide an entrance to the 25' foyer that features a magnificent staircase with a stunning oval stained glass window on the landing.  This is a one of a kind property and priced at $260,000.  The updated kitchen has cabinets of Oatmeal Birch and includes all the appliances.  Call for more information and to arrange your private showing, 319-759-2260.

My new listing in the country only lasted a few days, but if this is want you want, be sure to let me know so I can contact you right away when another one comes in.  It was priced at $115,000----an old restored farm house in a very secluded area within the city limits.

Another new listing features a triple lot with room for RV parking.  This 3 bedroom two story could easily be converted back to 4 bedrooms.  A lot of value here for only $78,000.  Call 1-888-891-6663  to see if you can get approved for a low or no downpayment loan.  An opportunity to transform from a renter to a buyer and have a fenced yard for your pets.  Don't miss this one!

Downtown Burlington on the Move!
October 28th, 2007 9:15 PM

I got an exciting new listing this week, and I already have an out of state buyer coming in to take a look!  This unique property is located in a prime downtown location and has an upscale loft apartment above.  It is currently being used as an Art Gallery with the apartment bringing in $750 a month rent.  The current owner would lease back the gallery space for $1000 a month until March 2008.  The apartment is being rented on a one year lease, but if the new owner wants to live there, the tenant will get 60 days notice and two months free rent to relocate.  The third floor is large and open with original brick walls on both sides.  It would be great for expanding the apartment or to use as a studio or theater room.  Take an "image tour" at www.212Jefferson.com  and visualize the possibilities.  It is one block from the Miississippi River in the heart of downtown.

Last January I sold a home to a California family and now the mother in law wants a little place as a 2nd home when she comes to visit.  We thought we found just the right one, but the inspections revealed too much work to be done.  She is coming here from Wisconsin to have a "home away from home".  If any of my readers have a perfect little house under $70k to sell, please call me or email me right away, so we can get her settled before winter.  I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

I've had many responses to my blog and I appreciate that so much. Let me know how I can help you, or share some moving stories with us.  I discovered a great gift for my clients this week.  Have you read the new "Our Iowa" magazine?  What a treasure-----written for Iowans by Iowans.  Let me know if you'd like a free sample as I have a few more to give away.

Sales were up again last quarter and Burlington seems to be thriving.  Come join us as there are lots of things happening here.  It is only the beginning!  The future looks bright.  Keokuk is just 45 minutes south of here and there is a new manufacturing plant coming to the area!  They plan to bring 200 new jobs which will be a real boost to the regional economy.
