Despite the weather, which is even crazy for Iowa, the real estate

market has been strong.  Many families were without power last

week end and more storms are predicted for this week end.

We had fun in our loft apartment which was not affected by the power

outage that surrounded us.  Our three sons living in Burlington came over

with their families to get a hot cup of coffee and take showers.  We spent the

afternoon playing card games, laughing, and reminscing about times in the

past when the lights went out.  We huddled by the fireplace and played

games by flashlight and candlelight and told ghost stories.  The good old

days were relived and enjoyed all over again.

    Coldwell Banker Great River Realty had a great first two months of the

year with almost $6 million in sales.  I had 8 sales the first 8 days of

January, took a week's vacation to see my granddaughter graduate from

Marine Boot Camp, and came back to a continuing active market.

The new agents in our office are going great guns in getting new listings

and sales.  The enthusiasm is contagious.

    One of my most exciting closings was with a family who moved here

from California in the middle of January.  They were totally overwhelmed

by Iowa hospitality as neighbors brought in food and helped clean the snow

from their driveway.  When the moving truck got stuck in the lane, the next

door neighbor got out his tractor and flatbed truck to unload and bring the

furniture to the door.  Where else but Iowa?  Welcome home!
